Apple iPhone 4S Review and Detail

Because on the inside, the iPhone 4S is dramatically different from the iPhone 4. With the exception of a micro-SIM card slot on the right side, it’s the CDMA iPhone 4; if the lines are symmetrical but the slot is there, it’s the iPhone 4S.) This does not mean that the iPhone 4S is essentially the iPhone 4 with the benefit of an extra letter. High-definition videos and photos display tiny details.

Reading text is like looking at a printed page. The result is marvelous. Dubbed the “Retina display” by Apple, it’s got a screen resolution of 326 pixels per inch, meaning that the average human eye can’t even see individual pixels. The same eye-popping 960-by-640-pixel screen introduced with the iPhone 4 is present on the iPhone 4S, too.

In terms of styling, the iPhone 4 feels like the most expensive electric razor ever made, or maybe like a finely-tuned luxury watch. The fit and finish are immaculate; not a single thing about the iPhone 4S feels cheap. It’s a classic look, easily my favorite of all the iPhone designs to date. Now here comes the iPhone 4S, which is more of a good thing: It takes the successful look of the iPhone 4 and tosses in a dual-core processor for dramatically improved speed, an upgraded camera, and some brand-new voice-command technologies. and Europe).

The iPhone 4, which remained more or less unchanged for 15 months as approximately a zillion Android smartphone models came and went, has consistently been the best-selling smartphone around (at least in the U.S. But the company seems to be doing OK in the business of building phones. Apple’s never going to win a competition with the wildest imaginations of tech bloggers. The results of my general-performance tests showed the iPhone 4S to be roughly twice as fast as the iPhone 4. As the iPhone 3GS taught us, adding an S to an iPhone’s name can represent numerous under-the-hood improvements, but it doesn’t send shivers down your spine like incrementing a number by one and unveiling a redesigned exterior with mind-blowing features that may or may not include anti-gravity.

In general usage, it didn’t seem to run out of battery any faster than my trusty iPhone 4. However, I didn’t get a chance to run any dedicated battery tests on the iPhone 4S. The end result is a phone that offers largely the same battery life as the iPhone 4. It seems clear, though, that some components are more energy efficient than on the iPhone 4 (I’m looking at you, cellular radio) while others eat more power (dual-core A5 processor).

Apple says that the innards of the iPhone 4S have been entirely redesigned—so many components have changed, there’s no simple explanation for the change in the company’s battery-life claims. Apple claims that talk time on the iPhone 4S’s battery is actually an hour longer than on the iPhone 4, but that Wi-Fi surfing will drain the battery an hour sooner. (The original iPad was similarly faster than the iPhone 4, in fact.) Of course, the iPad 2 doesn’t fit in your pocket, unless you have unusually large pockets or are a clown, or both. In most of my tests, the iPad 2 was slightly faster than the iPhone 4S.

The only iOS device in existence that can match up—and even beat—the iPhone 4S is the iPad 2. The 4S had more than double the score on the GeekBench testing app, and loaded a test webpage in a third of the time. 3GS users will see an even larger speed increase, of course. But a whole lot of people will be upgrading from two-year-old iPhone 3GSes. Of course, many people who just bought the iPhone 4 won't really be looking at the iPhone 4S.

One 3D test sequence played at roughly five times the frame rate of the same scene on the iPhone 4; another was roughly double the frame rate. That’s a best-case scenario, but my tests with the GLBench Pro graphics benchmarking app did show enhanced graphics performance. Apple claims graphics performance on the iPhone 4S has been boosted even more by the graphics component of the A5, with speed gains of as much as 7x. Two processor cores don’t necessarily mean the iPhone 4S is twice as fast as the iPhone 4.

This is a dual-core processor that’s one generation more advanced than the A4 processor that powered the iPhone 4 and the original iPad.  Like the iPad 2 before it, the iPhone 4S is powered by an Apple-designed A5 processor.

And if you’ve got an Apple TV, you can do this wirelessly, too. Attach Apple’s HDMI adapter to the iPhone 4S and connect it to an HDTV, and you’ll see the contents of your screen played back on your HDTV. The iPhone 4S has the same capability. But guess what?

This feature initially appeared to be limited to the iPad 2, since it was the only iOS device capable of mirroring its own display on an external monitor. Another feature of iOS 5 is AirPlay mirroring, which allows certain devices to display the contents of their screen on your TV via an Apple TV (which has not yet been launched in India). Our full review of iOS 5 itself is forthcoming, but in the interim, a recap: iOS 5 adds support for a much more flexible notification system, including the pull-down Notification Center interface; support for “PC-free” operation so you can set up, back up, and even update an iPhone or iPad without ever connecting it to a computer; iMessage, a system for sending messages to other devices without using SMS; Newsstand, which gives publishers more control over pushing newspaper and magazine content to iPhones and iPads; a new Reminders app; custom vibration patterns; Twitter integration; and a whole lot more. iOS 5 is a massive upgrade that adds all sorts of features to the iPhone and iPad, but users of the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, iPad 2, and third- and fourth-generation iPod touch will also be able to take advantage of them.  Although it’s not an iPhone 4S-specific feature, this phone is the first device to ship with iOS 5 as its base operating system.

Acer Aspire TimelineX 5830TG Review and feature

Along the same horizontal as the power button, you will find Acer 'P' ("programmable key) button, next to which lies the num lock and caps lock indicators. The back-lit power button is located at the top left corner of the main chassis body. Unlike in other Acer laptop models, like the Acer 5755G ,the screen hinges of the 5830TG are located at either ends, at the rear of the chassis.

The chassis has an aluminium-plastic finish - the palmrest has a plastic finish while the area surrounding the keyboard has an aluminium finish - and the backlid has a plastic finish. The matte surface, understandably, doesn’t attract fingerprints or smudges, but you should be careful of net getting oily smudges on its surface. While the glossy bezel does attract a lot of fingerprints and smudges, the black glossy appearance of the bezel - especially when contrasted with the lighter silver and blue matte colours - enhances the visual appeal of the laptop. Except the glossy black bezel and the glossy screen, the rest of the TimelineX unit has a matte finish.

Its body comes in an eye-pleasing, contrasting mix of three colours: blue, silver and black.  The Acer Aspire TimelineX AS5830TG has a sleek design and its edges have an angular look to them - the hinges alone have a cylindrical design.

The USB 3.0 port You can check on the battery levels, even when the laptop is switched of, by pressing on this button and it's light will shine in the appropriate colour - gone are the days when you had to switch on your laptop just to know how much of the battery life remains. When the laptop is powered on, if this button shines blue, signifies that it is connected to a power supply - similarly when connected to a power source, this button will shine Blue, for when there is more than 30% of the charge remaining; Amber when the charge lies between 10-30%; and finally red, when less than 10% of the charge remains. One such feature is the "Battery indicator" button, located at the front of the laptop, that displays, through various colours, how much of the battery's charge is left, and whether if its charging or not.

This Acer laptop has a number of other handy features. The battery section at the rear base of the chassis slightly sticks out, giving the TimelineX laptop an elevated design. The Acer 5830TG has a non removable battery. There is a 1.3MP webcam located along the top central section of the screen bezel.

The inbuilt speaker of the 5830TG forms a single continuous slab that is located along the same horizontal line, and is positioned between the power button and Acer's "programmable key". I have to say that the overall build quality of the TimelineX unit was good - however it has to be pointed out that the edge of the keyboard area, right above the optical drive opening, did seem to depress a tad bit too easily for our general comfort.  This TimelineX laptop weighs slightly under 2.5 kg - which is pretty much the norm with laptops sporting a 15.6-inch screen.

During testing, the Aspire TimelineX 5830TG did tend to heat up - you notice this when touching the base area that is adjacent to the exhaust Of course you could always go the route of enjoying your audio experience through a headphone. Do keep in mind that, as with most other laptops, the bass is still rather restricted - however this is compensated for, as enabling Dolby Home Theatre option adds a level of wholeness to the sound that makes the hearing experience a very comfortable one. More importantly, this was one of the better, I dare say even the best, sound production that I have heard from all the laptops that I have reviewed.

The TimelineX's speaker output levels, with Dolby Home Theatre 4 technology activated, are appropriately loud and clear for a mid-sized room. The Acer TimelineX Playing will play 720p and 1080p videos without any hassle. While these scores are sufficiently good, I'd still suggest playing contemporary games, at a low-to-medium resolution and graphics effects to obtain a worthwhile playable experience. Similarly, Metro 2033 run at 1366x768, DirectX 11, Very High Quality, AAA, AF 4X, and all settings maxed out registered 9.33 FPS. When benchmarking FarCry 2 at 1366x768, DirectX 10 mode, AA 2x, and 'Ultra High' settings, the average frame rate recorded stood at 36.26 FPS.

Getting through most processor and memory intensive processes, let alone your daily home and office productivity chores, should be a comfortable task for this laptop, During synthetic testing, the laptop's hard disk recorded an average read speed of 73.0 MB/s and the laptop recorded a PC Mark Vantage score of 6750.  The Acer Aspire TimelineX 5830TG laptop recorded a score of 113 on the Worldbench 6 benchmark - for comparisons sake, The Acer Aspire 5755G notched up a score of 112 on the same benchmark.

Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 Review and Price

 Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 Price Rs.38000
The speakers are placed along the same horizontal as the touch sensitive buttons, with one speaker extension at each of the right and left ends. Get Flipkart Discount Coupon for cheap Price. The thermal management allows you to set the fan speed to the following modes: standard, super silent, efficient thermal dissipation and dedusting. To the top right corner of the keyboard, you will find a number of touch sensitive buttons, such as those for muting/unmuting the sound, decreasing/increasing the volume, the 'one key theatre' button for selecting scene mode and the thermal management button. Just above the keyboard to the left is the power button, along with the one key recovery button.

The overall touchpad response was good. The Chiclet keys are curved at the bottom and well spaced, and allow for any annoying dirt particles to be easily cleaned off. The keyboard features Chiclet style keys, which basically make your keyboard have a less cluttered feel as well as making typing all the more comfortable. There's a 2.0-megapixel (MP) webcam placed on the IdeaPad Z570's screen bezel.

This screen is good for viewing text and videos. The 15.6 inch glossy screen supports a maximum screen resolution of 1366x768 pixels. The Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 has a bright screen and provides decent viewing angles. The IdeaPad Z570's has a 15.6-inch LED backlit widescreen display and weighs 2.58-kg with a six-cell battery. The laptop features a full keyboard and a separate number pad.

The laptop has a good build quality, with the metallic finish on the back lid and palm-rest serving as just the icing on this very enticing cake.

The laptop's six-cell battery lasted for just 1 hour 38 minutes through our battery tests, at high Moreover, the laptop was very quiet during operation. However, you do notice that the lower centre part of the laptop slightly heats up. Throughout our testing, the IdeaPad Z570 did a good job of keeping itself cool.

Given these scores as well as at the laptop’s native resolution, playing games at low settings would make for a comparatively smoother sailing for casual gamers. For Metro 2033, played at 1366 x 768, DirectX 11, Very High Quality, AAA, AF 4X, and all settings maxed, registered a measly 6.0 fps. FarCry 2, played at 1366x768, DirectX 10 mode, AA 8x, and 'Ultra High' settings, registered a 17.53 fps -- barely playable. But then again, this is a rather small inconvenience, as this laptop was not intended for gamers as such.

And for those of you looking to play the more graphically demanding games, this is not the machine for you. On this laptop, games would be ideally run at lower settings given that GT 520M is an entry level graphics card. The laptop also did a good job of playing high-definition HD 1080p videos. The audio system for this laptop does provide a loud sound output, which is good enough for a medium sized room. It had a PC Mark Vantage score of 5306, which is understandable given the laptops configuration.

During synthetic testing, the laptop recorded an average read speed of 70.7 MB/s. The score shows that this laptop is able to cope well with daily activities and it won’t have trouble coping with processor and memory intensive tasks either.  It had a score of 97 on the WorldBench 6 test, and this is good given that the laptop comes with a Core i3 processor and GT520M graphics card.

Asus K53SC Review and Price

It's not the most comfortable notebook to use though, and some parts of its design are questionable, but with a Core i5-2410M under the hood, as well as 6GB of RAM, GeForce 520MX discrete graphics and a 640GB hard drive, you get plenty of value for your money. You should consider this laptop if you're a student or home user who just wants something simple for everyday Web and office tasks, or even tougher media creation or file converting tasks. 40,000.

It's a solid 15.6in notebook with good specs that can be purchased for under Rs.  There's nothing that immediately stands out about the ASUS K53SCC.

You could always plug in an external keyboard and mouse, especially if you want to use the notebook as a desktop replacement — it has three USB ports, one of them which is also USB 3.0-capable. For those of you who are non-picky users that care more about getting good specs for a good price, it's definitely a model to consider. While it has some shortcomings, the K53SCC is meant to be a budget notebook, so its build quality was never going to be great.

It can make it hard to use comfortably when the notebook is plugged in to the mains as you have to sit in such a way that the cable doesn't become too much of a nuisance. It sits between the air vent and the Gigabit Ethernet port and the cord definitely gets in the way. We're not fans of the position of the power port, which is located in the middle of the left side of the unit, rather than near the rear of the notebook. The hinges hold the screen in place at your desired angle and there is no latch to fiddle with when opening it.

The palm rest is smooth and the lid has a texture that feels good. That said, it doesn't feel badly made.  The build quality of the K53SCC feels plastic-y, there is no doubt about that.

The laptop remains reasonably cool after long periods of usage, but this assumes that you use it in such a way that the vents get adequate airflow. That said, anything over three hours for a 15in laptop with a Core i5 CPU is decent, and you could get more out of it, too, depending on your usage. We were expecting closer to 3hr 20min so it fell a little short. In our rundown test, in which we disable power management, enable Wi-Fi,maximise screen brightness and loop an Xvid-encoded video, the K53SCC lasted only 3hr 8min.

Battery life wasn't great. But for basic Web browsing and document creation it will suffice. The native resolution of the screen is 1366x768, which is standard, and the screen itself is like most others in its class — it's glossy, a little harsh when it comes to colour reproduction and contrast, and its vertical viewing angles are narrow. Graphics-intensive games won't run smoothly, especially if they are recent titles, but older titles should work okay as long as the graphics details are not set too high.

It won't fare too well when used for gaming, but it depends on the types of games you play. The graphics performance of the ASUS was noticeably slower than the Acer though — it recorded 4546 in 3DMark06 while the Acer recorded 5323. These times are identical to the Acer Aspire 5750G, which uses the same CPU and is also designed to be a value proposition. It recorded times that were bang-on the money in our tests: 44sec in Blender 3D rendering, 52sec in iTunes MP3 encoding and 52min in the DVD-to-Xvid conversion.  Performance felt a little sluggish at times during everyday use, but if you're upgrading from a previous generation notebook or PC, then you'll definitely find it to be a step up.

Lenovo Essential G570 Review and Price

Lenovo Essential G570 Price in India Rs. 33000

The G570 weighs 2.6-kg with a six-cell battery and comes with a one year warranty. The laptop features a full keyboard with a separate number pad. I might be nit-picking here, but the screen did seem to wobble a bit.

While the chassis felt solid, the hinges on which the screen rested seemed rather flimsy. The touchpad is located below the keyboard and is positioned towards the left end. A dark bezel borders the 15.6-inch LED backlit screen and the palm rest has a black metallic finish. The back lid has a shiny dark appearance, and has the Lenovo logo displayed on its top left portion.  The Lenovo G570 looks good and its black colouring gives the laptop a very 'professional' aura.

The speakers are located at the front base of the laptop's chassis. The power button is located at the top right of the keyboard, alongside the one key recovery button. For general purposes, the subtly-granulated touchpad's response was excellent.

The chiclet keys curve at the bottom and are well spaced. The keyboard has a chiclet style configuration - one that proves to be comfortable for typing. There's a 2.0-megapixel (MP) webcam placed at the top of the laptop's screen bezel. Otherwise, the screen is good for both reading text and viewing images/videos. The viewing angles though do get poor, especially when looking at the screen from the extreme angles (left, right, top, bottom) - the colour shifts and there is a certain darkish hue to all the images/videos.

The Lenovo G570 provides a bright 15.6-inch glossy screen that supports a screen resolution of 1366x768 pixels.

The laptop comes pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Basic, so you will be missing out on features such as Aero theme and Windows Media Center. There is also a handy switch for enabling/disabling wireless network connectivity. The Lenovo G570 doesn't have Gigabit Ethernet - it only has the 100Mbit Wired Ethernet.

The Lenovo Essential G570 also has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 wireless connectivity. The laptop has four USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet port, VGA port, HDMI, headphone and mic ports, and a memory card reader. It features a Intel second generation 2.10 Ghz Intel Core i3-2310M (Sandy Bridge) processor, 3GB DDR3 RAM, on-board Intel HD3000 graphics and a 640GB hard drive.  The Lenovo Essential G570 comes with an expected configuration for its asking price.

Having said that, you should be able to extract around 4 plus hours out of the laptop's battery for doing lighter every-day work such as browsing the web and listening to music. The laptop's six-cell battery lasted for 1 hour 30 minutes through one of our battery tests, at high performance mode. Moreover, the laptop was barely audible during operation, which is good. However, you do notice that the lower left centre part of the laptop heats up slightly.

Throughout our testing, the Lenovo G570 did a good job of keeping itself cool. It is apt for personal entertainment. The sound output from the audio system is clear and loud enough for a small room. Watching 720p and 1080p videos on the display is comfortable. For instance when running Far Cry 2, the laptop recorded an average FPS of 14.27 when run in DX10 mode at 1024x768, 2xAA and minimum effects.

As such gaming is not what you are looking for when opting to buy this laptop. The G570 features a graphics core integrated into the Intel SandyBridge processor. The Lenovo Essential G570 recorded a PC Mark Vantage score of 5824. During synthetic testing, the laptop's hard disk recorded an average read speed of 66.9 MB/s.

The WorldBench score reflects what the laptop can do - manage your day to day multitasking needs of surfing the Web, watching movies, and working on productivity tools.  The Lenovo G570 managed a score of 88 on the WorldBench 6 test, a score which is good for a mainstream budget laptop.

Acer Aspire 5755G Review and Specification

Users will be glad to hear that this is not an issue anymore, with the new keyboard. With the previous keyboard style, users, myself included, who like to munch in front of the laptop while viewing a movie or reading a web page had to be worried about crumbs falling into the keyboard and getting trapped there. While both sets of keys are comfortable to type on, the chiclet configuration of this laptop makes cleaning the keyboard easier. The laptop features chiclet type keys, which is a departure from the raised flat keyboard style adopted on earlier Acer models.

For instance, the particular review model we received only comes in black. The colour schemes available for a model will vary according to the configuration though. So other color schemes are offered, namely Amazon Green, Pacific Blue, Desert Brown, Sunset Red and Monsoon Black. Acer has named this series as part of their "Gorgeous by Nature" line. The laptop has a two hinge design of the sort seen in earlier Acer models.

The Acer 5755G does weigh 2.6-kg with a six-cell battery, but it has a comparatively slender form. A dark bezel borders the 15.6-inch LED backlit screen and the palm rest has a grey finish bordered by black strips on either sides. The laptop features a full sized keyboard with the multi-gesture touchpad located below the keyboard, positioned towards the left end. The back-lid does attract a lot of finger impressions and smudges, and the same holds true for the palm rest, although to a much lesser extent. The lid has a pattern of wave like lines going across the black background.

The 5755G features a black back-lid with the Acer logo displayed on the middle section.

There's a 1.3-megapixel (MP) webcam placed at the top of the laptop's screen bezel. The power button is located at the top right of the keyboard, on top of the speakers, which is aligned across almost the entire horizontal length of the chassis. This might however have been only specific to the particular review model we received. It's not like you will be splitting hairs over this, but I noticed that the section above the speakers, positioned parallel to the F9 and nearby keys, seems to sink in when pressed.

While the laptop does look good, its build quality is fair – standard stuff when considering mainstream laptops. Otherwise, the screen is good for both reading text and viewing images/videos. The viewing angles are decent enough – but given that the screen tilts back to almost 70-80 degrees, finding a suitable viewing angle should not be too much of a hassle.  The 5755G provides a not particularly bright 15.6-inch glossy screen that supports a maximum screen resolution of 1366x768 pixels.

The sound output from the built in speakers, with the Dolby Advanced audio disabled, is appropriate for a small Additionally, playing videos on a full-HD TV by connecting through the laptop's HDMI port, provides for a smooth playback. Watching both 720p and 1080p HD videos is comfortable. And that, dear readers, is why I'd suggest playing games on this laptop, albeit at a lower resolution and graphics effects, to obtain a playable experience.

Similarly, Metro 2033 at 1366x768, DirectX 11, Very High Quality, AAA, AF 4X, and all settings maxed out registered 8.64 fps. When I benchmarked FarCry 2 at 1366x768, DirectX 10 mode, AA 2x, and 'Ultra High' settings, I saw an average frame rate of 34.27 fps. Playing games at low to medium settings, would make for comparatively smooth sailing for gamers. The 2GB RAM of the GeForce GT 540M sounds good, but that does not result in a performance boost by itself, the GPU's power is the main factor at play.

We saw it score 3290 points for the Intel HD 3000 and 7558 points while running on the NVIDIA GPU. The performance difference between the Intel integrated graphics and NVIDIA GT540M discreet graphics in 3DMark06 was large as expected. The laptop's hard disk recorded an average read speed of 82.5 MB/s, and a PC Mark Vantage score of 6762. In the synthetic benchmark WorldBench 6, it scored 112 - one of the highest scores we have recorded on laptops so far. Managing your day to day multitasking needs should be a very comfortable task for the Acer 5755G - coping with multiple processor and memory intensive tasks shouldn’t be a problem.

In most benchmark tests, the Acer 5755G posted better scores than most mainstream laptops we have reviewed.  When the laptop was put to test, it came out with flying colours.

Dell XPS 15z Review and price

So let's see how this premium product fares through our tests. The XPS 15z looks very stylish - reminds one of Apple's designs - and comes with a hardware configuration that looks really good on paper - this Dell XPS 15z unit we received is the higher spec'd of the two units available from Dell.  Dell's XPS range of laptops represents the company's top of the line products - the z series comes in a slimmer form factor than it's bulkier cousins.

The screen hinges are positioned in an area that is slightly depressed in relation to its surroundings. The rear of the laptop chassis is all so slightly raised - the screen is not located at the very edge of the laptop, but is placed just in front of the rear edge. The power button is centrally located above the keyboard, towards the top of the chassis, and centrally placed below the hinge - Dell sticks to a minimalist design with no other 'fancy' alternate-functionality keys located on the main chassis body other than the power button and the keyboard keys.

The overall design of the unit is simple and very stylish - although, I did feel that the barrel-like hinge's appearance seemed to be out of sync with the sleek look of the rest of the laptop. The audio grilles have a diagonally patterned design - this design is also used for the exhaust vents that are located at the rear and at the top base area of the laptop. The XPS 15z has certain unique design choices, which adds to its distinctive look. The silver colour covers the thin backlid and the laptop's sides and base, with the grey finish being seen on the top chassis area - a black bezel borders the screen, providing some contrast to the comparatively light colouring of rest of the unit.  The Dell XPS 15z unit has an anodized aluminium casing and sports a silver-grey matte finish with chrome linings bordering the edges of the chassis as well as the touchpad - the colour choice once again reminds me of Apple's products.

The laptop features 4 rubber stands at its base that are circular in shape and flat on their top section, and which consequently don’t cause any discomfort when keeping the laptop on your lap - as opposed to the more protruding stands seen on other laptops  The hinge has vertical lines etched on it, and one these lines lights up when the laptop is connected to the adapter - handy feature letting the user know whether the laptop is running on the battery or on the connected power supply. There is a button located at the left side of the laptop that, when pressed, indicates the level of the battery charge by accordingly lighting up five LED lights, that are located towards it's left side - if the battery charge is at 100 % all the lights light up and so on and so forth. The 15z's speakers are located at the top of the laptop chassis, positioned to the left and right of the keyboard.

There is a 1.3MP webcam located at the top central section of the screen bezel. In terms of build quality, the laptop has a solid construction.  The XPS 15z's edges and corners are well rounded and smooth-edged and the unit weighs in at 2.5 kg.

The Dell laptop also features Wi-Fi 802.11 n and Bluetooth 3.0 wireless connectivity. The power connector and Gigabit Ethenet port are located at the rear of the laptop - in my opinion a very handy design choice. On the right side of the chassis are located the slot-loading optical drive and headphone and microphone jacks.

The laptop's left side has a HDMI port, Display port, USB/eSATA combo port, 2 USB 3.0 ports, and a multi-card reader. The 15z might not offer a large number of ports, but it does make up for it by providing for a varied level of functionality within the constraint of the number of ports offered.  The Dell XPS 15z features a dual core Intel 2nd generation Core i7-2640M 2.80-GHz processor, 8GB DDR3 RAM, Intel HD graphics and Nvidia GeForce GT 525M 2GB graphics card, and a 750GB (7200 RPM) hard drive.

Other than having the rather However, Dell could have done a better job with the accompanying audio. You will have no problems whatsoever watching both 720p and 1080p HD videos. Moreover, do keep in mind that prolonged gaming can heat up the system. Running games shouldn't be that tricky a task for this machine - do keep in mind that playing the most recent titles should be done whilst keeping details and resolution slightly pulled to the lower-to-medium spectrum of settings, so as to enjoy an optimum gaming experience.

When benchmarking FarCry 2 at 1366x768, DirectX 10 mode, AA 2x, and 'Ultra High' settings, the average frame rate recorded stood at 36.14 FPS. Also keep in mind that while you might feel awed at the 2GB of graphics RAM included in this system, that feature by itself doesn’t result in a performance boost. As such we ran the 3D Mark 06 test when the system was using only integrated and only discrete graphics - when using only Intel graphics, the system notched up a score of 4502, while using only the GT 525M card, the system scored 7376. The laptop uses Nvidia's Optimus technology which allows the system to switch between using the integrated and discrete graphics options as and when required. During synthetic testing, the laptop's hard disk recorded an average read speed of 95.0 MB/s and the laptop recorded a PC Vantage score of 8983.

Getting through most processor and memory intensive processes, let alone your daily home and office productivity chores, should be a walk in the park for this laptop.  The Dell XPS 15z recorded a score of 137 on the Worldbench 6 benchmark, one of the highest scores we have seen in recent times - the only other unit that came closest to this score was the Dell Vostro 3450.

Apart from the 15-inch glossy LED-backlit screen, any other semblance of gloss anywhere else on its exterior--no more fingerprints and smudges troubles!--and this can't be said of many of our Top 5 Mainstream Laptop recommendations.  We may not be huge fans of its monotonous, all-black look, but like the Sony VAIO E is very well built and weighs 2.7-kg--about what you would expect from a 15-inch laptop with a six-cell battery.

VAIO Gate resides as an application dock along the top edge of the desktop; it The Sony VAIO E also bundles in a bunch of built-in software, out of which VAIO Gate is the most mention-worthy. The laptop comes with 64-bit Windows 7 Professional operating system. Disappointingly, despite its mainstream, all purpsose billing, the Sony VAIO E doesn't have a dedicated graphics card. The VAIO E also comes with an ExpressCard slot, an SDHC card reader, and Sony's proprietary MagicGate Memory Stick Duo reader.

One of the USB ports on the VAIO E conveniently doubles up as an eSATA port--a trend we're seeing increasingly adopted by laptop manufacturers. Apart from all the regular input-output ports and a DVD writer, the VAIO E also includes Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity. Additionally, the VAIO E has 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 320GB hard drive, and onboard Intel GMA HD graphics--not a bad set of basic hardware building blocks, if compared to the Lenovo Ideapad Y550, Dell Inspiron 14-1464 or Acer Aspire 5740 laptops.  The Sony VAIO E-VPCEB1AGG is based on an Intel Core i5-520M 2.4-GHz processor with Intel Turbo Boost technology which dynamically allows the CPU to overclock (whenever required) to upto 2.93-GHz.

However, laptop battery shouldn't matter much if you're looking at the VAIO E as a laptop for predominantly home usage. We reckon you could get about 2 hours 30 minutes while browsing the Web (on power save mode) before plugging in the charger. Battery life, unfortunately, on the Sony VAIO E-VPCEB1AGG isn't very good: its six-cell battery failed to last an hour in our benchmark tests (on high performance preset).

Sony also has few buttons above the keyboard that are pretty useful: Assist - to launch system recovery, Web - one push Web browser -- and they're very easy to find should the need arise. The trackpad has a fine granular texture to give optimum feedback, and the two separated mouse buttons are pretty good as well. In traditional Sony fashion, the VAIO E comes with an isolated, chiclet styled keyboard which is very good to type on. Onboard audio on the VAIO E was good for a laptop, nothing outstanding to mention here. Watching both 720p and 1080p HD video files was no problem at all on the VAIO E-VPCEB1AGG.

The VAIO E's glossy screen is good for reading text as well as displaying crisp, vivid cinematic visuals. Its onboard Intel GMA HD graphics means you can forget about gaming on the VAIO E--why Sony couldn't pack in a dedicated graphics card is hard to understand. WorldBench 6, PC Mark 05, PC Mark Vantage, and Cinebench scores are pretty good for the processor and RAM deployed on the Sony VAIO E.  Equipped with an Intel Core i5-520M processor, there's no surprise the VAIO E did so well in our benchmarks.

Review and Specification of Notbook Acer Aspire One D255

Dual-core Intel Atom N550 processor helped drive the Aspire One D255 to an overall score of 0. Other netbooks offer more features, and AMD Fusion models are better at video, but those looking for solid all-need look no further. 3 USB, Bluetooth and Gigabit Ethernet is not present, but three USB 2 ports, SD / MMC card reader and wireless 802. The trigger is the core specification.21, placing it among the fastest players in the group. . The touchpad also works without any fuss. Acer Aspire One D255 dual-core processors deliver power with very good prices. Acer has not sacrificed for their stamina looks good, though: the Aspire One D255 lasted 9hrs 25mins in our light usage battery test. 10.1in screen has a contrast ratio of 438:1 is very good and, according to a standard netbook, faithful color reproduction. Free keyboard layout of the keys in vain to shrink and that, combined with the right shift key width, making it easy to get up to speed fast typing.13kg, solid build quality. Although relatively mild only 1. Lid not feel tense because some of its competitors.11n should cover most eventualities. Peak brightness at 206cd/m2 simple, but otherwise the only major downside is the glossy finish, which results in annoying reflections in bright conditions. Surface, subtle area feels good, it supports two-finger scrolling, and was accompanied by rocker buttons that offer just the right amount of resistance to every click.Acer Aspire One D255 is the physical design and understated elegance suitable to carry around a small bulge where the addition of 4400 mAh battery in the rear, measuring only 24mm thick, and that the figure of a slim fit with a gloss-black lid and pull strip of metallic gray stretches across the wrist rest.

Life Of Pi Movie Review - Base on Yann Martel' book

Life of Pi Production year: 2012 Country: USA Cert (UK): PG Runtime: 127 mins Directors: Ang Lee Cast: Adil Hussain, Gerard Depardieu, Irrfan Khan, Rafe Spall, Shravanthi Sainath, Suraj Sharma, Tabu . If he revisits a place or genre it's to tell a very different story – a martial arts movie in medieval China (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) is followed by a spy thriller in wartime Shanghai (Lust, Caution), and a western with a US civil war background (Ride With the Devil) is succeeded by a western about a gay relationship in present-day Wyoming (Brokeback Mountain). The Taiwan-born Ang Lee rapidly established himself in the 1990s as one of the world's most versatile film-makers, moving on from the trilogy of movies about Chinese families that made his name to Jane Austen's England (Sense and Sensibility) and Richard Nixon's America (The Ice Storm)

More on this film:
He adopts different styles to fit his new subjects, and while there are certain recurrent themes, among them the disruption of families and young people facing moral and physical challenges, there are no obsessive concerns of the sort once considered a necessity for auteurs. From its opening scene of animals and birds strutting and preening themselves in a sunlit zoo to the final credits of fish and nautical objects shimmering beneath the sea, the movie has a sense of the mysterious, the magical. His magnificent new film is a version of Yann Martel's Booker prize-winning novel, Life of Pi, adapted by an American writer, David Magee, whose previous credits were films set in England during the first half of the 20th century, Finding Neverland and Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. This effect is compounded by the hallucinatory 3D, and in tone the film suggests Robinson Crusoe rewritten by Laurence Sterne. He has a fastidious eye for a great image but he also has a concern for language.

He's Piscine Molitor Patel (Irrfan Khan), a philosophy teacher, and he tells the curious story of his own extraordinary life, beginning as the son of a zookeeper in Pondicherry, the French enclave in India that wasn't ceded until 1954. The movie's two central characters both obtained their names by comic accident. Was this fate or chance? .The form is a story within a story within a story. On delivery to the zoo their names were accidently reversed and the tiger became Richard Parker. An unnamed Canadian author whom we assume to be Yann Martel himself (Rafe Spall) is told by an Indian he meets that there is a man in Montreal called Pi who has a story that will make you believe in God. He later became fascinated by a Bengal tiger in the zoo caught by the English hunter Richard Parker who called him Thirsty. The deeply serious Piscine (played by Gautam Belur at five, Ayush Tandon at 12 and Suraj Sharma at 16)was named after an uncle's favourite swimming pool, the Piscine Molitor in Paris, but changed his name to the Greek letter and numinous number Pi after fellow schoolboys made jokes about

This is grand adventure on an epic scale, a survival story that takes up half the movie. His faith is tested as an adolescent when his father is forced to give up the family zoo, where Pi realises he's been as much a captive as the animals themselves. The 227 days at sea are a test of physique, mental adaptation and faith, and Suraj Sharma makes Pi's spiritual journey as convincing as his nautical one. Alone above the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the Pacific, he's an orphan captaining a lifeboat with only a zebra, a hyena, a female orang-utan and the gigantic Bengal tiger Richard Parker for company. But it's struck by a storm as dramatic as anything ever put on the screen, and Pi becomes a combination of Noah, Crusoe, Prospero and Job. This is a Darwinian place that Pi must learn to command. It's no Peaceable Kingdom like Edward Hicks's charming early 19th-century painting, where the lion sleeps with the lamb.Growing up, the ever curious Pi becomes attracted to religion and the meaning of life, a spiritual journey that the film treats with a respectful wit as the boy rejects his father's rationalism and creates a personal amalgam of Hinduism, Christianity and Islam. A Japanese freighter becomes a temporary ark on which the Patel family take the animals to be sold in Canada. Using state-of-the-art 3D and digitally created beasts, Lee and his team of technicians make it utterly real, as they do a mysterious island that briefly provides a dangerously seductive haven.

He confronts thirst and starvation, finds a modus vivendi with the fierce tiger, endures and wonders at a mighty storm, a squadron of flying fish, a humpbacked whale, a school of dolphins, a night illuminated by luminous jellyfish." At another level, Sam Goldwyn's advice to the screenwriter comes to mind: "Give me the story and send the message by Western Union. The movie does for water and the sea what Lawrence of Arabia did for sand and desert, and one thinks of what Alfred Hitchock, who used 3D so imaginatively in his 1954 film of Dial M For Murder, might have done on his wartime Lifeboat had he been given such technical facilities." . This brave new world is observed by a young Chilean director of photography, appropriately named Claudio Miranda. This poetic Life of Pi concludes with a fascinating, deliberately prosaic coda that raises questions about the reality of what we've seen and confronts the teleological issues involved. One thinks of the reporter's remark at the end of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance: "When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.
