Leonardo DiCaprio fights terrorists for the CIA in this rapid-fire thriller from director Ridley Scott (GLADIATOR, BLACK HAWK DOWN). While Roger Ferris (DiCaprio) gets his hands dirty on the teeming Arab streets, his handler Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) watches from Washington via spy satellite, cheerfully giving bull-in-a-china-shop style orders while picking up his kids from school.LIES is decked out from front to back with fascinating bits of Arabic and espionage minutiae as it races along its wild mission to track down an elusive terrorist sect leader. Crowe has fun in his portly Southern-accented INSIDER mode, while DiCaprio does his usual anguished moral suffering over the fate of individuals (To Crowe's Hoffman, it's all just part of war and nobody's innocent). As the suave head of Jordanian intelligence, Mark Strong gives a scene-stealing, cobra-like performance that clashes beautifully with Crowe's "ugly American" bullying. The beautiful Golshifteh Farahani plays the obligatory love interest, the nurse who treats Ferris's regularly occurring battle and torture wounds. When most action heroes are completely healed within minutes of every fight, it's refreshing--in a grisly sort of way--to see how Ferris's wounds bruises pile up. The solid script is by William Monahan from the David Ignatius novel.

Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Mark Strong, Golshifteh Farahani, Oscar Isaac, Simon McBurney

Australia Movie Review - Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman

In AUSTRALIA, Lady Sarah Ashley (Kidman) is a prim and proper Englishwoman who journeys to Australia in the years before World War II reached the country's shores. She is determined to have her estranged husband sell his cattle ranch to a monopoly-craving businessman named King Carney (Bryan Brown), but when she arrives, Lord Ashley is dead, and her plan to sell the ranch changes when she sees an employee named Fletcher (David Wenham) cheating her husband's business and mistreating a young boy named Nullah (Brandon Walters) because he is of mixed race. Urged on by both pride and a sense of justice, Lady Ashley wants to drive her herd of cattle to Darwin so she can sell them to the troops, but she'll require the help of an independent cowboy (fellow Aussie Hugh Jackman) to get them there. AUSTRALIA changes genres almost as much as Kidman's character changes from fantastic costume to fantastic costume (courtesy of Luhrman's wife and collaborator, Catherine Martin). The film begins as a fish-out-of-water comedy, then changes into a Western, then morphs into a romance, and it finishes as a World War II drama. But in this genre-bending epic, there's something for everyone, especially for fans of Jackman. The film itself harks back to classic Hollywood, at times resembling essentials such as GONE WITH THE WIND and THE AFRICAN QUEEN. And fans of THE WIZARD OF OZ will enjoy seeing how the beloved film works its way into AUSTRALIA's plot and score.Kidman looks very pretty in this movie.

Starring: Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, David Wenham, Jack Thompson, Bryan Brown, Brandon Walters
Director: Baz Luhrmann
Story: Baz Luhrmann

Eagle Eye Movie Review -Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan

D.J. Caruso ( directs this tale of intrigue that utilizes technology as a character. Jerry Shaw (Shia LaBeouf) is a slacker who works at Copy Cabana--until he returns home after receiving bad news about his brother to find his apartment filled with incriminating packages, and receives a phone call from a mysterious woman advising him to vacate the premises immediately. Single mom Rachel Holloman (Michelle Monaghan) also finds herself at the mercy of the mystery caller after seeing her young son off on an overnight school trip. Soon, these two strangers find themselves caught in a tangled web, taking directions from the female caller who makes it very clear that if they disobey her, there will be consequences for them and their families. They have no control over the course that's been set in motion. But the real question is, who is making these calls and what is their ultimate goal? Filled with explosive action, car crashes, and high-tech hi-jinx, this thriller moves at breakneck speed. Technology is the co-star here: electronic signs relay the next move to Jerry and Rachel, traffic lights change as needed, and strangers' cell phones ring with directions. The strong supporting human cast includes Billy Bob Thornton as a hard-nosed FBI agent who is investigating LaBeouf for terrorism, and Michael Chiklis as the Secretary of Defense. LaBeouf remains an interesting young actor, able to move from action sequences to emotional moments with ease, and Monaghan protects her screen son with a mother's ferocity.

Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan, Rosario Dawson, Michael Chiklis, Anthony Mackie, Billy Bob Thornton
Director: D.J. Caruso
Screenwriter: Dan McDermott, Travis Wright, John Glenn, Hillary Seitz

Zinda Movie Review - Sanjay Dutt,John Ebrahim

One of the most challenging roles ever by the deadly Dutt, it is sure to haunt you long after the screening is over. What does a man desire most in his life? A small and happy family comprising of a beautiful wife, a secure future, a roof on the head, and a comfortable place to live in! Balajeet Roy (Sanjay Dutt) too believed in the same and thought that he had it all. Content with his lovely wife Nisha (Celina Jaitley), he was beginning to feel comfortable in the city of his dreams - Bangkok!
Bangkok - a city that promised to give him everything that he ever wanted! Bangkok - a city that took away everything from him that he ever had! So what if Bangkok had a different culture, way of living and off course different food! In the company of Nisha, things always seemed promising. Life took a turn for better when Nisha realized that she was going to give him a baby soon.
But would he be able to see the arrival of the newborn? Because his life was going to be snatched away from him soon! Bizarre incident happens in their lives when Bala finds himself locked at a place about which he is not aware of. Neither is this place a prison nor has he been kidnapped. He has been just kept in the confines of a small, dark and a dirty room where his only link to civilization is an old television set! What is his crime? Which is this place? Who are his captives? When would he come out?

In a nutshell, ‘Zinda’ is a finely made movie with a story that throws unexpected twists just when the going seems to get smooth. The movie has two songs (Yeh Hai Meri Kahani by Strings and Zinda Hoon Main by Shibani Kashyap), but they play in the background.
